Pest control across Salt Lake County, UT
From the Avenues to Herriman, the valley's pest calendar is the same: spiders and boxelder bugs in fall, mice at the freeze, wasps and mosquitoes all summer. Our Redwood Road office sits in the middle of it.

Local knowledge
One valley, many kinds of homes
Salt Lake County takes in the whole valley between the Wasatch and Oquirrh mountains. On the east bench and in Salt Lake City's older neighborhoods, homes have basements, window wells and aging foundations that let spiders, earwigs and mice in. On the west and south sides, newer subdivisions back onto open land where voles, gophers and field mice live.
The Jordan River runs north through the middle of the county, and with it comes mosquito pressure along its whole length. Apartment buildings downtown and along the TRAX lines bring their own problems: German cockroaches and bed bugs that move between units.
We plan visits around those differences. An older home in Sugar House gets a close look at window wells and the foundation; a new build in the southwest valley gets attention on lawn rodents and the edges where yard meets field.

Local conditions
West Nile, rodents and the valley's season
In 2026 the Salt Lake County Health Department reported 709 West Nile positive mosquito samples statewide, about six times the 108 found by the same point in 2025, with 35 percent of one weekly Salt Lake City sample positive. The county has three mosquito abatement districts, Magna, Salt Lake City and South Salt Lake Valley, and the season runs until the first hard freeze. Rodents bring a separate risk: one of Utah's two 2012 hantavirus deaths was in Salt Lake County.
That mix is why a Salt Lake County plan covers yard mosquitoes in summer and rodent exclusion in fall.
